Ode to the Interesting Number Paradox

Every positive integer is interesting. Proof: assume some are not. Let N be the smallest uninteresting number — but that property makes N interesting. Contradiction. An ode to the self-defeating attempt to sort things into boring and remarkable — the meta-paradox sitting at the heart of any list that claims to contain the ordinary.

The quiet middle children of the number line.
But the paradox is this:
The moment you begin the list, it's done.
The smallest uninteresting number.
Is suddenly the most interesting one.
It has a property now.
The first name on the page of the forgotten.
It's 1918, a taxi in the London rain.
G. H. Hardy, visiting a friend.
He says, "My cab number was 1729.
A rather dull number, I'm afraid."
But Ramanujan, from his bed, he sees it.
The smallest number built from two cubes, in two different ways.
A dull number, saved by a second look.
And the paradox is this:
The moment you begin the list, it's done.

Is suddenly the most interesting one.
It has a property now.
The first name on the page of the forgotten.
A century later, the game repeats.
An online forum, a digital ledger.
Someone nominates 11630.
"The first uninteresting integer."
And just by typing it, they save it.
They give it a name.
They pull it out of the quiet, anonymous crowd.
So the list stays empty.
The page is blank.
Every one of them is waiting.
For someone to call them dull.
And give them their one true story.
The story of being noticed.
