The Avondale Estates Beerfest

The annual Avondale Estates Beerfest — held on the lakefront lawn in late September, local craft brewers under tents, the cover band on the floating stage, the families with picnic blankets. The town's signature gathering. Bo with a flight in hand.

Lyrics

Yeah. There it is.
You smell that?
That's late September.
That's the whole town out on the lawn.
White tents in a line down to the water's edge.
Every brewer from three counties showing their best.
Got my wristband, got my little five-ounce cup.
First pour's a hazy IPA, gotta fill it up.
They're grilling something over there, sausage and peppers.
The whole green smells like hops and summer's last embers.
You can feel the bass in the grass, coming right up through your shoes.
Yeah, this is the one day a year you just can't lose.
And the band's on the water, on a floating stage.
Singing a song we all know, turning a new page.
This is Avondale right here, with a beer in its hand.
The best little Tudor town festival in the land.
Everybody's smiling, everybody's here.
This is the taste of our town, once a year.
See the mayor over there, talking to the guys from Wild Heaven.
Kids are chasing a frisbee, it's not even seven.
Picnic blankets spread out like a patchwork quilt.
On the foundation of a town that a candy man built.
And the music, man, it just drifts across the lake.
A little echo off the houses, for goodness sake.
You see your third-grade teacher, your neighbor, your ex-boss.
No one's a stranger when you're sharing the lawn and the sauce.
And the band's on the water, on a floating stage.
Singing a song we all know, turning a new page.
This is Avondale right here, with a beer in its hand.
The best little Tudor town festival in the land.
Everybody's smiling, everybody's here.
This is the taste of our town, once a year.
Sun's going down now, painting the sky.
Porch lights on Clarendon are catching my eye.
The air gets a little cooler, you pull on your sleeves.
The string lights in the tents flicker on through the leaves.
And the swan boats are all tied up for the night.
Just us and the music in the fading light.
Got a flight now. A stout, a sour, a pilsner, a brown.
This is the best damn evening in the best damn town.
And the band's on the water, on a floating stage!
Singing a song we all know, turning a new page!
This is Avondale right here, with a beer in its hand!
The best little Tudor town festival in the land!
Everybody's smiling, everybody's here!
This is the taste of our town, once a year!
Yeah!
One more flight.
Definitely one more.
