I was just staring at the 6:14 train
Crossing the bridge over the muddy river.
Nothing special about the morning rain,
Just another cup of coffee making me shiver.
My brain trying to wire the distant power lines
Into some kind of a deliberate sign.
And then the weather breaks.

Out of the overcast, a sudden hand!
Offering a heavy branch of living wood.
Still sprouting green right where I stand,
Leaves hanging in the air like they understood.
It’s not a blueprint, it’s not a scheme,
It’s just the raw heat waking the machine—
The impulse right before the fire takes hold.
Grab it before it goes cold.

There is a castle on that distant hill,
Or just the water tower catching the light.
But I can feel the sudden rush of will,
My fingers twitching for the start of the fight.
I haven’t bought the timber or cleared the space,
I just have this manic heat on my face.
I don't even know what I'm building yet!

Shaped like sparks over this quiet town...
You have to take it.

Just a heavy stick covered in green.
The hand reaches out of the cloud in the air.
Grab the wood.
It's still alive in there.
